Talking Art, Materials, and Archaeology with AP Students

I took part in a studio tour at the Factory Arts District with AP Art students from Plainfield High School. It was one of those full-circle moments that made me think back to my own high school art days. We talked about materials, creative problem-solving, and how art teaches us to turn limitations into ideas. My favorite moment: the collective “oooh!” when they found out the work is inspired by archaeology. The work shown is part of my upcoming solo exhibition, Tender Ground: Excavation as an Act of Care, opening March 2026 in the Schwitzer Gallery at Factory Arts District.
