Bath Spa emerged from my journey to the Roman Baths in Bath, England: a site that has long stood as a place of ritual, healing, and embodiment. Originally dedicated to the goddess Sulis Minerva, the baths were not just architectural marvels or social gathering places, but spiritual sanctuaries. People came seeking healing, wisdom, and renewal through the elemental power of water.

As I moved through the space, I felt a distinct energetic presence - something lingering in the steam, the stone, the stillness. This exhibition is my attempt to respond to that presence. Using charcoal and watercolor, I trace the themes of memory, water, and energetic residue. Charcoal allows me to explore weight, structure, and time-worn surfaces, while watercolor brings fluidity, transparency, and the shifting quality of water as both physical and symbolic.

Color plays a narrative role throughout the work, mapping cycles of stillness, movement, and erosion. The tones reference standing water, mineral deposits, and the subtle glow of something sacred just beneath the surface.

With Bath Spa, I’m reflecting on how sites like the Roman Baths continue to hold emotional and energetic charge - how they invite us to consider the body not just as a physical form, but as a vessel for history, spirituality, and transformation.
