Artist Talks & Lectures

I offer artist talks that connect my studio practice with research in archaeology, archival work, and conservation methods. These presentations explore how painting and installation can translate historical inquiry of human history into visual and experiential experiences.

Grounded in process and research-based learning, my talks share not only the outcomes of my work, but the ways I approach inquiry: through observation, material exploration, and sustained engagement with community. I aim to create space for audiences to consider how their own interests, curiosities, and questions might be approached through similar methods of investigation.

My approach bridges institutional knowledge with public understanding, inviting audiences to engage with archaeology and human history as active, shared experiences rather than distant subjects.

Talks may be adapted for lectures, presentations, or conversational formats depending on the audience.

Meet Me On-Site: Field Trips & Site Visits

These small group experiences extend my studio practice into the field, inviting participants to join me in visiting sites of historical, cultural, and material significance. Each session is grounded in shared observation, conversation, and research-based inquiry. Together, we approach these locations as both archive and living context, considering how history is held, preserved, and encountered in real time. Through guided prompts and informal discussion, I share the ways I move through research in my own practice, offering participants a framework for engaging more deeply with place, memory, and their own lines of curiosity.

These sessions are intentionally intimate and process-based, creating space to slow down, look closely, and experience research as something embodied and accessible.

  • 2–3 hours

  • Limited to 2–4 participants

  • Offered seasonally

Details and registration released prior to each session.

Studio Lab: Art & Archaeology (Youth)

Step into the studio and engage in hands-on exploration of materials, process, and inquiry. In this small-group workshop, youth participants (ages 6–12) experiment with ancient and tactile practices, from creating pinch pots, crafting rainmakers, to soil color theory paintings.

These activities draw on experimental archaeology, a practice archaeologists use to explore how objects were made and used. Participants mirror not only my approach as an artist, but also the investigative methods of archaeologists, discovering how materials, textures, and embodied practices shape observation, creativity, and understanding. Each session is designed to spark curiosity, encourage experimentation, and offer a playful, process-driven experience that connects art, history, and material exploration.

  • Ages: 6–12

  • Maximum 6 participants per session

  • 1 hour

  • Materials provided; children take home their creations
